No KERS for Renault for next two races

14 September, 2009

Sep.14 (GMM) Renault will not use KERS at the next two formula one races, Spanish race driver Fernando Alonso revealed after the Italian grand prix.

The 27-year-old admitted he had been disappointed with the performance of the energy recovery system at Monza, where Renault had expected it to be useful on the long straights of the Italian circuit.

Before Monza, Renault had long ago abandoned KERS in 2009, and it appears that the boost button will again be missing from the R29 at least at the forthcoming Singapore and Suzuka rounds.

“We are not going to have it (KERS) in Singapore and Suzuka, because they are circuits with a lot of corners, especially Singapore,” Alonso is quoted as saying by the AS newspaper in Spain.

He confirmed that Interlagos, the penultimate race of the season in Brazil before the finale in Abu Dhabi, is the next circuit on which Renault could theoretically decide to use KERS.
