Four wins, four pole positions and three fastest laps – it’s been quite a year for Red Bull Racing’s debut driver. Here’s Sebastian Vettel’s take on 2009 where he challenged for the Formula 1 World Championship and finished second in the title race.
How was the season for you?

Sebastian: “When you look back, it was a very good season for us and the car seems to be having been getting better right until the end of the season – it was the best season the team and me ever had. I am sure we will build on that. We have enough time in the winter to look back intensively and attack again next year.”
Were you pleased with your performance this year?
Sebastian: “As sportsman you are disappointed because you don’t like being second or third if you aim to win. But for the team it still was a great season and did everything. And one can say their performance was outstanding this year. The team is very proud of what we have achieved and this gives us all power to attack next year again.”
How are you going to approach next season?

Sebastian: “Full attack. This year was a turning point because the team showed the very best performance on which we can build for next year. Next year the rules will change a little but all are confident and it looks good. Everybody is working on the car for next year to have a car to win races again.”
Was there a particular moment you’ll look back on from 2009?
Sebastian: “There were many special moments. The victories in China, Silverstone and in Suzuka and Abu Dhabi. I think this is what you never will forget. Overall we had some good races, unfortunately not always finished them. But the victories were definitely the best moments.”
Is Jenson a worthy world champion?
Sebastian: “He absolutely deserves it to be world champion. He got the most points during the season and now one race before the end he has the title. There is no doubt

about that. So all I can do is to congratulate him.”
Why do you think he and Brawn emerged winners and you,Mark and Red Bull Racing did not?
Sebastian: “There is not one problem, there are many small ones. If you look at the races this year you can see that at one time the strategy was not perfect. Other times we did mistakes. The pit stops were not good. Or I did something wrong. These are still things which are part of a learning process. For next year we have to analyze what it was and then learned from it so that we don’t do the mistakes again and make it better!”
