Inner team rivalry set to scoop F1 headlines
8 March, 2010
Mar.8 (YF1) One of the most intriguing aspects of what promises to be one of the fiercest Formula 1 seasons in memory is the rivalry within the four major Grand Prix teams.
At Ferrari we have the mouthwatering prospect of Felipe Massa versus Fernando Alonso in what should be a fiery latino style brawl. Alonso will want to assert himself as Ferrari’s saviour while Massa will be out to prove that the Maranello squad does not need a knight in Spanish armour.
Michael Schumacher’s “greatest comeback of all time” will no doubt gobble up the headlines as the 41 yar old veteran returns to the arena to reassert himself as the best Formula 1 driver of all time. This time round he finds himself against a generation of super competitive youngsters of which Nico Rosberg, his team mate, is supposedly destined for great things. This is a battle of young versus old in the reborn, Silver Arrows, Mercedes GP petronas team.
McLaren Mercedes goes into the new season with two World Champions at the helm of their rapid MP4-25. Lewis Hamilton is itching to get out of the starting blocks and has a record of putting highly vaunted Champions in their place, rewind to 2007 during the ill fated “Alonso era” at Woking. He will want to do the same, perhaps less viciously, to his new team mate and reigning World Champion Jenson Button. The latter has something to prove in the best team he has ever driven for.
Perhaps the least volatile of the inner team rivalry will be a Red Bull Racing where Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have been paired together for a season already and know what to expect of one another. Truth is Vettel was the team’s Championship contender in 2009 and will want to establish his credentials early on. Meanwhile Webber will not want to play second fiddle in what some are saying will be his last season in Formula 1.
The F1 scene is set for a soap opera which could never have been scripted, providing a salivating 19 episodes for the billions of fans who will be glued to the box throughout the season. We at YallaF1.com will provide blow by blow news and updates throughout the season.
