Jul.09 (YallaF1.com) Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari’s day got off to a potentially bad start, as he couldn’t find his F1 pass, when he and Sébastien Buemi tried to come into the paddock on Thursday.
Fortunately, the Silverstone security men decided to let him in anyway, once they realised he was a “famous Spanish Formula 1 driver.”
Not much can wipe the smile off the Spanish driver’s face, after his national team beat Germany on Wednesday night, to get through to the final of the football World Cup in South Africa. “I watched the semi-final in a pub in Oxford and it was a great atmosphere,” said Alguersuari. “Even though I was the only Spanish person there, everyone seemed to be cheering for Spain.”
Alguersuari was, along with most drivers canvassed, was impressed after he saw the new Silverstone layout first hand during his track walk this afternoon. “I think the modifications will make this circuit even more fun to drive, because there are some new slow corners but also two high speed turns that could be quite tricky.”
When asked if he thought the mods would improve the show and encourage more overtaking, he said, “Maybe, because I think Turn 13 could be a new opportunity, but as always we will have to wait and see, because walking round on foot and driving a Formula 1 car are very different!”
