Hispania close to Toyota technical deal

Toyota Formula 1

Jul.21 (GMM) HRT is reportedly close to finalising an agreement with Toyota’s former Cologne based formula one team.

Italy’s 422race.com said the struggling Spanish outfit will sign the deal “in the next few days” after a long period of negotiation.

The team’s current car, the slowest in the 2010 field, was built by its former partner Dallara.

The website said the HRT deal will involve use of Toyota Motorsport’s Cologne headquarters, staff and designs of the unraced 2010 car, the TF110.

Before the money arrives from Spain, Toyota is reportedly rehiring engineers including by publishing announcements in specialist magazines.

Good news … it was a big loss to have Toyota out of F1 despite the fact they never won any race in 8 years, their cars were very competitive with the A class cars and their drivers reached the podium several times. HRT (or any other new team) should have thought of Toyota F1 package long time ago, but to late is better than never.

    Good news for Hispania
Bad news for some of the ‘wannabe’ teams, as they wanted the Toyota themselves.
