Aug.25 (GMM) Martin Whitmarsh is reportedly stepping down as chairman of the formula one teams association FOTA. Italy’s Autosprint claims the McLaren boss will be replaced by Adam Parr, the chairman of the Grove based Williams team.

The vice-chairmanship of the FOTA alliance is also changing hands, with Toro Rosso’s Franz Tost reportedly to succeed Whitmarsh’s current deputy Stefano Domenicali. Ross Brawn and Christian Horner head FOTA’s technical and sporting arms respectively.

Having someone from Williams at the helm should change the direction of FOTA more to the middle , thus helping the independent teams and not being too Manufacturer oriented. I think Tost is a poor choice. He is a hot head. But overall, this should be good for FOTA.

Well Whitmarsh has been an utter failure, he lied to all the other FOTA teams about McLaren NOT using the F-Duct prior to winter testing, and he still can’t make up his mind about the ‘proximity wing’.

The sooner he goes the better, let’s just hope Parr puts the sport ahead of his team, but judging by FOTA’s recent actions, I can’t see that happening.
