Feb.5 (PVM) Daniel Ricciardo is set to be a regular fixture on Friday morning free practice sessions during the forthcoming Formula 1 season.

In further evidence that the young Australian is being groomed by Red Bull, their satellite team Toro Rosso announced, ” We’re doing everything in threes this year, because apart from Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi, we’ve also got Daniel Ricciardo on the books.”

The statement added, “The Aussie youngster will drive for us in FP1 (that’s Free Practice 1) on Friday morning’s at most GPs this season, and yes we know that means Thursday in Monaco.”

Ricciardo, a graduate of the Red Bull young driver programme, is also set to be part of the pre-season testing programme. The team confirmed, “All being well, Daniel should get a run in the car during next week’s test at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.”

On Friday he was at the team’s Faenza factory “to have his seat made for the STR6 that made its track debut in Valencia on Tuesday.”
