HRT to set up UK office near Brackley

Apr.22 (GMM) Hispania Racing Team (HRT) is set to establish a British office, according to internet reports in Spain, and in all probability close to Brackley.

It emerged recently that the Spanish team, whose official home is Murcia while the bulk of the crew hails from Colin Kolles’ German operation, has concluded a deal to rent a wind tunnel at Mercedes GP’s Brackley headquarters.

Ross Brawn explained that Mercedes GP can only use one of its two tunnels – the newer one – due to the FOTA financial constraints agreement.

“The other one is let out to customers and Colin, along with a number of other activities, is renting some time in the tunnel,” said the Mercedes GP team boss.

Reportedly one of HRT’s ‘other activities’ is the renting of some design office space, to make best use of the wind tunnel that was originally built by BAR.

“We rent it out on normal commercial terms to whoever wants to buy time in it,” Brawn explained.
