Jul.21 (GMM) Mercedes GP team looks set to contest next year’s world championship with its current driver lineup of Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.

There have been rumours that while Rosberg is linked with a switch to a top-3 team, Schumacher might end his formula one comeback at the end of 2011.

“We thought we would be right at the front this year,” German Rosberg told Bild newspaper in a joint interview with Schumacher.

“But this is also an exciting situation, to build together a successful future. Sitting in the Silver Arrow is an honour and the thought of winning in one is something special. It is worth it to be patient,” he said.

Seven time world champion Schumacher was also asked for how much longer his pairing with 26-year-old Rosberg will last.

“I can’t say. But, anyway, I’ll be here next year.”

Added Rosberg: “I would like to repeat myself that I feel very, very happy here. But I never talk publicly about contractual issues.”

It also seems likely that the driver pairings at top-3 teams Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will remain static for a near-unprecedented third consecutive season in 2012.

Help Michael be a great driver again. Bring back mid-season practice.

really want to see Nico in any of the top 3 teams..he has a great talent and it is all going to be wasted if he is stuck with uncompetitive team for a long time..he has got podiums with Williams and Mercedes even when they are the middle order teams….

This is all i need to hear Michael might go in 2011 but i do hope he will stay in 2012. it is so sad to hear him leave formula 1 again he is such a lovely guy, i have met him 3 times and had lovely fond memories of him ever since he came into my life as a friend since1991, well if has to go i shall miss him awfully like he did in 2006, but i will contact him by post to keep in touch on what he is doing. He is the best f1 driver including Seb Vettel in formula 1.

Probably the best decision for both of them but i still would of loved to of seen Michael driving that Ferrari car one more time.
