Special 100th Ferrari race helmet for Massa
25 November, 2011
Nov.25 (PVM) Felipe Massa will wear a very special helmet for the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at Interlagos, the occasion of his 100th race with the Ferrari F1 team.
Designed by the artist Jens Munser, based on instructions from Felipe and produced by Schuberth, a long time partner of the Scuderia and the driver, the helmet features a chrome and gold Prancing Horse, on which are mounted a further one hundred small horses, one for each race contested at the wheel of a Ferrari.
The 30 year old Sao Paulo born Brazilian made his Formula 1 debut with Sauber in 2002 at the Australian Grand Prix with backing from Ferrari.
He was promoted to the senior team, after a stint as the team’s test driver, in 2006 alongside his mentor Michael Schumacher. Massa went on to win that year’s Turkish Grand Prix and has since then won a total of 11 grands prix, also coming desperately close to winning the 2008 world championship.
Notably, the 2008 European Grand Prix in Valencia was Massa’s 100th Grand Prix, which he won, making him to date the only driver in history to win his 100th F1 race.
