Berger: Schumi has no chance against Rosberg

Jan.27 (GMM) Michael Schumacher’s former rival Gerhard Berger believes the seven times world champion will hang up his helmet at the end of this year, saying the 43 year old does not stand a chance against Merecedes team mate Nico Rosberg.

Berger, quoted by various German media, said, “I don’t think he’s going to extend the contract,” he said, referring to the fact 2012 is the third and final year of the 43-year-old’s existing deal with Mercedes. At some point he has to get tired.”

“He has no chance against Rosberg,” explained Berger. “He will have to admit that at more than forty years of age he can’t beat a young driver at Rosberg’s level.”

Indeed, young talent is now Berger’s specialty, after he was asked by his former Ferrari boss Jean Todt to head the FIA’s single seater commission.

Berger thinks the junior categories cost youngsters too much currently, and has given his opinion on what the costs should be in the ladder to F1.

“What I think would be reasonable is $65,000 at the most for a kart season, $130,000 for an entry-level series, $400,000 for Formula 3 and $650,000 for the last series before Formula 1,” said Berger.

    @everybody

where did i criticize Schumi? I said the same as everyone else, Berger loser, Schumi world champion. Then i said hindsight is a wonderful thing…but not better than Michael Schumacher lol

Look at what picture? oh you mean the photo?…hey hey….dont worry about it, im impressed you know how to write. About the photo, seems to me Schumacher is telling a joke and the loser Berger is having a laugh…a jealous, envious laugh…he is finding the joke funny but because Schumi is 7 time world champion and he is not, then he will always be jealous. Its a part of life…and part of not being the best isnt it? haha loser drivers who are not 7 time world champion…they dont know that the only thing bigger than Schumacher is the sky (LOL)

Good luck Schumi, you are still a force to be reckoned with if you have the right car.As for Rosberg better than Schumi, that is a laugh.Rosberg is a nice lad and a safe driver but with no teeth.Schumi is still a tiger at 43yrs of age.Go bite ‘em Mike, give ‘em hell this year!!

It’s Michael Jordan in his Washington Wizards era. That’s my comparison.

I’ve said it before, Still got some game, but decrepit.

I thought MS coming back was a good idea at first, but if he is only succeeding at holding someone else’s career up, at this point, maybe he should hang it up.

Well hind sight is a wonderful thing..we’ll see who gets it right…Gerhard Berger or all you bozos

The more people try to put down Schumi, the more motivation you’re giving him to prove you wrong.

It seems fashionable to take cheap shots at the Great Man.
Despite his age he is still one of the best drivers on the grid and both drivers did a great job in 2011.Mercedes had a better drivers line-up than Renault or FI or any of the other teams below them.
Schumacher was in fact better than Rosberg when it came to race day and I think this year, hopefully with a better car more to his liking, he’ll be able to beat Rosberg.
    Let’s wait and see!

Who is he to say stupid things about Michael? Michael is a very strong driver… And i really hope Michael extends his contract.

  11. Matthias O'keeffe 27 January, 2012 at 5:47 pm

That’s all Berger does… Insult our seven-time world champion… He should be proud at least Michael doesn’t finish the race in last place… Michael is doing his best to finish at the top. It’s Michael’s decision to come back.. Not his.. He should just shut the f**k up..

I think berger got it wrong he was meant to say:

“Rosberg has no chance against Schumi”

If shumi will hang up this steering wheel and the end of the season he will 100% make sure he goes go out with a bang!!

and that will start by giving his team mate an ass wooooopin!!

    Good luck schumi!!
