Sutil still fighting to secure 2012 F1 seat

Feb.15 (GMM) At the very end of last season, Adrian Sutil had four options to stay in Formula 1 in 2012, but none of the opportunities materialised.
That is the claim of the German driver’s manager Manfred Zimmermann, who has so far failed to secure Sutil a race seat for the forthcoming season after his five consecutive years with Force India.
“We will fight to stay in formula one and we’re still hoping to get a seat for 2012 – even if it is in the course of the season,” he told the Sport Bild magazine.
He played down the impact of the 29-year-old’s grievous bodily harm conviction, insisting there has been “encouragement and support from all sides”.
Zimmermann said that at the very end of last season, Sutil was juggling four distinct options for 2012 that ultimately “slipped like soap” through their fingers.
“Unfortunately in formula one, money is always important,” he explained. “It simply didn’t work out in the end.”
As for the role the assault charge played, Zimmermann conceded: “I can’t really judge.”
However, for Sutil’s career, all is not lost.
“We have had enquiries in the past days from several series such as Indycar and touring cars. In America, Adrian is a very highly regarded driver.”

“We will fight to stay in formula one……” Isnt that the reason he was dropped from F1?
Ferrari’s holding hope in Kubica, a much better option than Sutil or Massa. And this manager is talking out of his ass really. If Indycar or any American series wanted him, you’d see press like Rubens. Rubens is highly regarded and sought after, and all over the news here. Adrian is nothing in America.

Agreed – if I were Ferrari I’d snap him up for the reserve driver role , let him have some Friday drives and see how his times compare to Massa.
My guess is he’d be noticeably quicker, in which case he’d be a good candidate to take Massa’s seat in 2013.
Sutil is a very underrated driver, he soundly beat man of the moment di Resta at Force India and they were silly not to keep him on.
After all it was largely due to his impressive haul of points that Force India managed to finish the season in 6th place.
He’s quick and experienced and would be a great team mate for Alonso.
I believe Ferrari still need to line up a reserve driver now that Bianchi is at Force India.
