Grand Prix International 23 May 2012 Edition
23 May, 2012
But then that’s what the Monte Carlo weekend is all about. The reason Formula 1 exists is epitomised by the glamour and excesses of the weekend on the Cote D’Azur.
F1 cars zoot around at ridiculous speeds around that famous and beautiful harbour.
All the years of hard work to bring race tracks, around the globe, to the safety levels they enjoy today, is conveniently ignored to make way for the Armco lined street spectacle.
Word is that the principality pays not a dime to host the race, which must make the nouveau riche venues, which fork out huge bucks to ‘The Supremo’ , shudder at the thought.
The decision makers that affect and influence F1 all converge for the four days of handshakes, deals and hedonism.
Four days – yes four days – as Monaco is the only place where first practice day is on Thursday. No F1 on Fridays as the Monegasques do need a day to do their pre-weekend shopping. You got to love it, we do and here is an edition dedicated to previewing F1’s crown jewel. Enjoy!
