Small teams worried that 2014 engine will be too expensive

May 30 (GMM) Formula One’s engine customer teams are concerned that the price of power is set to skyrocket.
According to Auto Motor und Sport, teams like Force India and Sauber currently pay around $12 million for their engine plus KERS packages.
That is reportedly set to increase to about $22 million when the turbo V6s debut in 2014.
“That is clearly too much,” Sauber co-owner Monisha Kaltenborn is quoted as saying.
The magazine said Williams, Caterham, Toro Rosso, HRT and Marussia all agree, and have asked the FIA to impose a cost-cap for their 2014 packages.
“We have to ensure that, looking back ten years ago, we don’t go back to a point where engines were so much more expensive,” she added.

@Stewy the problem that we have was Max has spoken so they agreed.
The V10 would be awesome combined with the technology we have now, they could challenge the boffins to make them cheaper to run.
they could give them some more limits or change the fuel to some swamp gas or pig sh!t.
they could give them other challenges but they will more than likely tell them 2016 1.1ltr with 3 pots.
Great point Stewy. Not only is the development work done, they sounded awesome! I’m going to miss the sound of 18000 rpm when they switch to the v-6.
Why don’t we go back to V-10 engines, the R&D is already done.
