Pirelli keen to remain F1 tyre supplier beyond 2013
21 June, 2012
Jun.21 (GMM) Pirelli has indicated its desire to stay in Formula One beyond its current contract.
The sport’s sole tyre supplier returned to F1 at the beginning of last year, having won a three-year tender from governing body, the FIA.
“Our current contract ends at the end of the 2013 season, but we still want to be in F1 in the medium and long term,” motor sport director Paul Hembery is quoted by the French-language website autohebdo.fr.
“If the sport wants us to stay and we can convince the management to continue, then we intend to keep going,” the Briton reportedly added.

I think tyres already get enough attention they do not deserve, lets not escalate the matter with another supplier.
What about “top” team’s lack of solid and constant performance that lands them way down the grid, where before they would just loose couple places.
I love the fact, gap is so narrow between top teams and middle pack. High risks, meaning higher rewards or greater looses.
if they had 2 suppliers competing for the better compound tyre, then this current “managing your tyre” race would ultimately return to being proper F1.
Single tyre suppliers is a lame way to run a series. Especially when it’s pirelli and their tires are gonna suck this bad.
