IOC boss says Formula 1 will not be part of Olympics
8 July, 2012
Jul.8 (GMM) Formula One drivers can forget any hopes of winning an Olympic medal, as there are no plans to include the sport within the games.
When International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge entered the Silverstone paddock on Sunday, some suggested that it could be the first step to adding motor racing to the Games’ roster of sports.
Not so. Although admitting that grand prix drivers are “very courageous”, Rogge – a guest of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone – insisted that the Olympics is for “athletes, not for equipment”.
“While having a lot of respect, [motor sport] will not be included into the Olympic programme,” he is quoted by the Daily Mail.
The 2012 Summer Games kick off in the British capital later this month.

Yeh. And the bicycles that these “athletes” compete with are made of spit and tissue. If archery can be an olympic sport, if shooting can be an olympic sport, This man has NO ARGUMENT.
This guy is right, the F1 drivers are not athletes with any special skills, anybody can drive thru a 4g turn for 57 laps or go 150 mph in the rain without seeing the front end of the car. Yep! People with those skills are a dime a dozen. F1 forever!!
It’d be a sad day if F1 lowered itself to the level of the olympics.
That guy sucks-why even let him into the pits-make him buy a ticket-bernie quit kissing his azz
