Senna: Frank Williams is happy with my progress

30 July, 2012

Bruno Senna (BRA) Williams talks with the media. Formula One World Championship, Rd9, British Grand Prix, Preparations, Silverstone, England, Thursday 5 July 2012.Jul.30 (GMM) Bruno Senna was feeling confident about the future after Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

Surrounded by growing paddock rumours that test driver Valtteri Bottas will surely get a race seat in 2013, Brazilian Senna has struggled during his first half-season with the British team. Bottas is managed by Williams shareholder and executive director Toto Wolff, a fact which has lent fuel to the rumours.

But in Hungary, Senna made the ‘Q3′ segment for the first time in 2012, going on to outrace Barcelona winner Pastor Maldonado to seventh at the finish.

“The team was very happy with my race,” he is quoted by O Estado de S.Paulo newspaper. “Frank Williams came to tell me that he is happy with my progress.”

The newspaper said that Senna will begin the August break by visiting his family in Brazil, before returning to his home in Monaco.

The fantastic pass (for me the top moment of the race) he made on the oustside of turn 2 showed he is a true Senna. And that’s it, he will get there (remember his quali in Spa in the Renault, I was there and it was fantastic to witness)

Bruno is doing a reasonable job and not getting penalties and DNF’s unlike his team mate CRASH

Its interesting the press says Brunomhas struggled in the first half but rush to praise Maldando. In the First elven races, Senna has scored 6 top ten finishes to Maldonado’s two. Clearly Senna is still in need of work on his qualifying pace but this is his first full season in a real F1 car. Why not report the facts and let us decide whether or not he is struggling. Last I checked in F1 whoever is losing to someone in the identical car is the struggling one, not the one finishing higher up the grid!
