Boullier says contact with Kubica stopped months ago

4 September, 2012

Eric Boullier, Lotus Renault Team Pricnipal with Robert KubicaSep.4 (GMM) Lotus boss Eric Boullier has revealed that there is little chance Robert Kubica will return to Formula One with the Enstone based team.

The Pole was a Renault driver ahead of the 2011 season (before the name changed to Lotus) when he was seriously hurt during a minor rally in Italy.

For months afterwards, Frenchman Boullier said the team was supporting Kubica’s quest to return to F1, but there were rumours of a subsequent falling-out.

Boullier told the Daily Mail’s World of F1 blog: “He [Kubica] stopped contact with us months ago.”

It emerged last week that Kubica is still pushing to recover his driving fitness, having reportedly tested a works Ford world rally car.

Boullier insisted: “I cannot make any assumptions about anything because I am not in contact with him anymore.”

    @Rumors:
    So your opinion is a fact is it:
    Are you another one of the Chrystal ball group.
    No let me think you are one of those multiple personalities you think you are Robert the way you are talking for him!

    Rumors rumors rumors, that all that anyone has heard no facts. Kubica is done. There have been reports that he can’t even hold a water glass to drink with his right hand. Every rumor of test drives has been just that rumors that have never been confirmed. It is over, he will not drive in any major series again. Time to face the music.

    There are rumours in Italian press that Robert will take part in one or more rallies this month. That would be the fist time since his accident when he can shows up officially! So, fingers crossed for it to be true.BTW the guy has balls of steel to take part in a sport which nearly killed him just to show everyone that the accident didn’t affect him mentally and his natural speed is intact. If everything goes ok maybe that will be enough to land him a test drive for a F1 top team. That’s all he needs to come back!
