Rift developing between Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button

Oct.8 (Reuters) McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton triggered a fresh Twitter storm on Monday by wrongly accusing Formula One team mate and compatriot Jenson Button of disrespect by ‘unfollowing’ him on the social media site.

The two drivers, both world champions, have seemed to get on well at McLaren where their relationship has been presented as generally harmonious.

Hamilton, who has taken enthusiastically to Twitter, caused a controversy at the Belgian Grand Prix last month when he sent out confidential data from his qualifying run to nearly a million of his followers, and, undoubtedly, McLaren’s rivals.

Button said at the time he was ‘disappointed’ by his actions.

“Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn’t,” Hamilton said on his own Twitter feed on Monday.

Formula One World Championship, Rd15, Japanese Grand Prix, Race, Suzuka, Japan, Sunday 7 October 2012.“Funny thing is, we are STILL teammates! All good ‘tho’, I plan on giving this team & fans all I got til I cross the finish line in brazil!!!,” added the 27-year-old, referring to next month’s season-ender.

The messages were soon followed by another retraction of what he had said to an audience of followers that now numbers 1.1 million.

“My bad, just found out Jenson never followed me. Don’t blame him! Need to be on Twitter more,” he explained.

He is being replaced at McLaren by Mexican driver Sergio Perez next season.

Hamilton left Suzuka accusing his Sauber rival, who wil take over the Briton’s seat, and who spun out, of ‘crazy’ driving in trying to overtake him around the outside at the hairpin in Sunday’s race.

Lewis is a moron. I’m a big lewis hamilton fan, but this guy doesn’t deserve to have access to Twitter, Facebook or any social media. He’s constantly showing his immaturity. One minute he shows so much talent, next minute he acts like a teenager. Lewis just drive, thats your only strength right now.

@richard, not sure if that was sarcastic or not, but funny.

@all… No offense, and this has nothing to do with the color of skin, but he is just another ni$$er. His actions prove the theory.

Once again, absolute proof that Alonso is evil.

Who cares. it’s just twitter? The thing about being famous in racing is that a person has to “Win” to stay on top and relevant. LH won’t be winning at his new team like he has been over the years. I can’t wait for him to start bitching about his new team when he gets there.
He has the numbers to back up some of the attitude but there is no one in F1 that can’t be replaced.

Mike Tyson destroyed everybody on his way to the top! thats why he talk smack because he backed up erery words that came out from his mouth. while LW, he needs a miracle and the stars to a line etc. to barely win a WDC. LW is not even on a level where Seb at.

Lewis Hamilton. For crying out loud, start engaging your brain before you even say `Hello´ for example. If not, better still keep it zipped…

It is getting to a point were fewer and fewer and even your most enduring fans will put up with your antics and un-professionalism.

    A `dick head´ does nothing for Mercedes´s image either.
Just wake up because the world is actually looking and also judging you and we are not as stupid as you may think…

    @ Andy – London;
    I hear you and agree!

Twitter is at the root of so much evil. All social networking sites do more harm than good.
What a idiot to get annoyed at being “unfriended”.
Although widely regarded as one of the best drivers of his generation, Lewis is testing the patience of all those who have tried to support him through thick and thin. 2011 being a good example.
When you won in Canada this year, why go up to your silly rap friends and then go to the podium, not even “high fiving” your mechanics?
A little like Mike Tyson in his heyday, Lewis has far too may “hangers-on” and I think they are taking his eye off the prize.
Button may not be as maverick behind the wheel as Lewis, but is always ready for an interview and is polite and mature…..and he beat Lewis last year.
I used to adore Lewis but I’m pretty fed up with him right now.

Wow… Lewis screws up again… never thought I’d find it boring but there it is… just not that interested. Lets face it, making fun of Lewis is like taking candy from a baby. Shooting fish in a barrel. Hitting the side of a barn. Oh God what have you done to us Lewis?

So it gets worse soon the spreading of manure will come by the bucket Lewis needs to think first before spraying the Cr#p

Lewis made that big blunder on twitter and withdrew it after he was spoken to by team principal Martin Whitmarsh. Lewis apologised for the blunder to MW. I thought the matter ended there within the team until Jenson took it upon himself to speak to the media criticising Lewis. I posted a comment that it is not done as Jenson and Lewis are team mates and the matter was dealt with by Whitmarsh. Now this. What is gong on between Jenson and Lewis. It has not been smooth within the team though they both make it out to be. Expect more comments on conspiracy theories and love/hate comments by the readers.
