Silly season latest: Massa stays at Ferrari, Hulkenberg to Sauber

8 October, 2012

Felipe Massa Ferrari Suzuka Japanese Grand PrixOct.8 (GMM) Some more pieces of the 2013 ‘silly season’ puzzle are set to fall into place.

British broadcaster BBC reports with confidence that, with his return to the podium at Suzuka following a two-year drought, Felipe Massa could have his new contract with Ferrari confirmed at this weekend’s Korean Grand Prix.

It’s something of a blow for Force India’s Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg, who were linked strongly with the Maranello team’s potentially vacant cockpit.

But Switzerland’s Blick newspaper reports that German Hulkenberg has a back-up plan that is now “ready for the signatures”.

“Nico Hulkenberg will go to Sauber for at least two years,” veteran correspondent Roger Benoit reports from Japan.

Blick also said that former Toro Rosso racer Sebastien Buemi, who this year has been Red Bull’s official reserve driver, is in the hot seat to replace Hulkenberg.

But Force India’s Otmar Szafnauer is quoted as telling Blick’s Benoit: “Why doesn’t Sauber take Buemi?”

    @Another year of Massa crying
    Your comment doesn’t make any sense whatsoever! One of the most stupidest comments I’ve ever seen.

    @Vene
    Go watch teletubbies and leave the F1 to the grownups, kiddo!
    Yea you’re right, who cares that you’re a moron?

    To bad we have to endure another year of Massa crying about others cars crowding him when he is the worst offender for not giving any room to another driver on the track.

    I can’t stand Massa because of his double standard. The man is a danger on the tracks and is nothing more then a moving chicane these days.

    Massa has been in Formula One far longer then he deserved.

    Going by the result @ suzuka for massa, it is obvious to believe this news but it all depends on massa’s performance in the next race n if he performs very well, the deal could be sealed for massa n hulkenberg’s next best option is sauber

    Blick-Benoit is not -by far- a reliable source. They lie very often and their “predictions” allways goes from temerary to ridiculos. But at the end, proved to be false.
