Video: Raikkonen birthday announcement a publicity stunt
18 October, 2012
Oct.18 (GMM) Kimi Raikkonen did not announce his plans for the 2013 season as he turned 33 on Wednesday.
A viral video on the internet, posted by an advertising agency that works with the 2007 world champion, announced recently that the speculation about Raikkonen’s future beyond 2012 will “come to an end” on 17 October, “when a new contract will be published”.
It turned out to be just a publicity stunt for the Lotus driver’s new personal sponsor, Finnish clothing brand Makia Racing.

This is something he does to support his friends, not money, money he got too much of already. He couldn’t be cared to do personally to get cash for him self.
Lotus lucky they were able to squeeze some corporate opportunities with Kimi, and sponsors love it.

Great advert – just for a tee-shirt and hat venture… but what the heck, even the NASCAR dweebs haul in more cash from marketing wares than sponsors. If you’re going to do it, do it with style, and this little promo is all that and then some.
