Villeneuve says Grosjean has not learned from mistakes
1 March, 2013
Romain Grosjean, labelled by Mark Webber last year as a first lap nutcase, insists he has changed for the better ahead of the 2013 season, but 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve doesn’t think so.
“The only reason he has the chance of winning is because he has an incredible car,” French Canadian Villeneuve, who has been signed up by F1′s new French broadcaster Canal+ for 2013, said.
“His only problem is that he does not learn from his mistakes,” the former Williams and Sauber driver is quoted by France’s RMC Sport.
“I found all of last year’s nonsense amazing,” continued Villeneuve. “He didn’t change from the first to the last race. It’s a shame because he is a very fast driver.”
Of the other F1 drivers, outspoken Villeneuve admitted that his favourite is Fernando Alonso.
“The best car is certainly Adrian Newey’s Red Bull. But apart from Alonso, there is no driver capable of driving at the limit of the car the whole race. When Vettel does, he makes mistakes,” said the 41-year-old.
“The only standout is Alonso. After him, maybe Lewis Hamilton. He is no longer at McLaren, with his family, and so he is not protected any more, but he is a fighter so it will be very interesting,” added Villeneuve. (GMM)

Gilles> Agreed, Jacques is simple minded. Now that Nikki Lauda has Mercedes to use as his mouthpiece I guess Jacques thinks he will be the ex-driver emeritus to voice his views on F1. The only problem is that Jacques 15 minutes were up a long time ago and even in his championship season he could not have carried Nikki’s lunch let alone his father’s. Jacques, go back to Canada, make another feeble CD and shut up. And while you’re at it go get your shine box!!!
Monza>> Actually I do give a f… He irritates me every time he opens his mouth. When he was racing I had no hatred for him even though I was fan of Schumi. So he did everything in his power to earn that hatred after he retired and he did it with his comments.
Some people say that Jacques always tells the truth and that’s what provokes negative reaction from most but I think that he is simple minded arrogant pr**k with no sense of tact and stranger to diplomacy.
Jacques has a lot of room to talk, if it were no for the era of the “Automatic Williams” he would have been just another CART driver who failed at F1. Jacques’ talent never approached Vettel’s let alone Grosjean. It must be a very slow news week for him to be quoted. I believe I speak for the masses in saying nobody gives a F**k when Jacques speaks.
Villeneuve is the classic green eyed monster. “The only reason he has the chance of winning is because he has an incredible car,”. This comment makes me laugh!! Jacque was fortunate to waltz into F1 strapped to Adrian Newey’s dominant FW18 of 1996 and 19 of 1997. After that he was utterly hopeless!!
This clown obviously didn’t see last year’s Brazilian GP, where Seb was lapping 1,6 seconds faster than leader (Hamilton at a time) on a wet track with a damaged car. He caught up Alonso in 4′th from last place in 9 laps or so. And not a single mistake.
And how the hell can he know if Grosjean learned from his mistakes or not? Actually I agree with him on Grosjean, but I would reserve my judgement at least until after the first race of 2013.
Now I can understand why Jacques was the only driver who Schumacher didn’t respect. He was a joke, he is a joke.
Gilles ?? I think you mean Jacques.
Gilles Villeneuve is comming old and he doesnt remember any more his own carriere.
Roman Grosjean is a big talent already now.
Lets wait, what happens in the future
Best luck
