Formula 1′s sole trye supplier, Pirelli, are prediction a two stop tyre strategy will do the business at the season opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

In their qualifying post-mortem Pirelli predicted, “The strategy, as usual, will depend on the weather and the speed of each car. If it rains, then the strategy is much harder to predict – and the teams will just have to rely on any opportunities that come their way.”

But if it remains dry their tyre gurus are predicting, “The fastest strategy looks likely to be a two-stopper: Start on the Supersoft. First stop: change to Medium on lap 14.  Second stop: change to Medium on lap 36.”

“The second fastest strategy is a three-stopper with a start on the Supersoft. First stop: change to Medium on lap 8. Second stop: change to Medium on lap 23. Third stop: change to Medium on lap 40,” is Pirelli’s prediction. (Apex)
