Those vents would have very high pressure air entering which is then ducted past the driver, for cooling of course!!, then exits under the floor of the rear diffuser. Any aerodynamacist will tell you that the most important thing with airflow is to keep it attached. This additional cold compressed air will be even more effective than the hot exhaust gasses at maintaining the attached airflow across the rear diffuser.
